COW CAT

A young newcomer to one of our oldest cat colonies, this cranky interloper was cute, but terribly fresh! When we first met Cow Cat, he had recently grown into the collar he'd been wearing when he was abandoned. Removing said collar from this very cranky cat was an interesting feat, but off it eventually came with little damage to us, and we decided a cat with such attitude might be best living right where we'd found him.
And not a year later, we were trying to rescue Cow Cat again. This time his situation was a bit more serious - a polyp deep inside his ear causing a great deal of discomfort. Several attempts at the quick and easy way to remove a deep polyp have been unsuccessful, so Cow Cat is negotiating with a surgeon to just get it over with, but get it right. Meanwhile, Cow Cat is sort of..cowed. He even likes his foster mom. Could it be, Cow Cat will someday not only feel better, but have a proper name and a real home, too? Stay tuned!

STAR

This senior lady was found wandering after being attacked by another animal. Recovering from multiple bite wounds, a broken bone, a cut over her eye, malnutrition and just plain fright, this tiny feline is finally safe and sound, and on the mend. Grateful, sweet, affectionate, her next great adventure will be a badly needed dental. Then, when Star is ready, we will find her a real home and we will wish her nothing but boring peace, comfort and love for the rest of her life.

GRANDPA

This poor cat was found living in a crumbled, damp box last winter, most of the skin on his belly, head and legs were covered in sores. At the time, he looked so old we named him Grandpa, but in reality, he's only 5 or 6 years young! With the help of our regular veterinarian and the generosity of a dermatologist who's taken an interest in this case, we've discovered Grandpa's problem is a rare and severe allergic dermatitis. Expensive medications have worked, but their long-term effects are less than desirable - Grandpa is too young and too nice a cat to have his life shortened this way. A simple blood test later, we find out Grandpa is allergic to 26 different environmental allergens. A specially mixed serum, given as a series of painless injections, will enable Grandpa to wean off toxic medication and begin living a normal life.

BUSTER

Buster's turned into a handsome young cat! He is still friendly, outgoing, affectionate, fearless and his "pooping problem" is so much better, we are wondering if he even has one.
He needs one more procedure at Cornell, and thanks to the people who donated to his cause, we are able to pay for this. We even have the appointment and the transportation to Ithaca, but right now, Buster needs a foster home. He's a piece of cake to live with and an absolute joy be around.
Buster's Background: Buster is one of the happiest kittens we've ever met. Everything and everyone is a joy to Buster - people, dogs, cats, kittens, kids, toys, food - life is good for Buster! Except when Buster had to poop - come on, we all do it - then Buster cried out in pain. A congenital deformity in his colon made what most of us take for granted, painful for this sweet, otherwise purr-fect little guy. We can correct Buster's problem with surgery. That's where your generous donations and Cornell came in.

BENJAMIN

Quite possibly a permanent member of FOF - what we call a Sanctuary cat - this 10 yr-old male just had all of his teeth pulled - we didn't think he had any left! His gums had grown over any broken and jagged teeth remaining in this poor cat's mouth, making the extractions extensive and complicated.
Ben (who'd once lived outside as a tom cat before making himself at home with FOF) has a few issues: occasional seizures and a tendency to overreact to the word "No" are a few - but he's earned his keep over the years by being a great "mom" to many frightened kittens as well as attempting to nurse ill or injured adults who've come through his foster home. In short, Ben's a great guy, and he's much more comfortable now!

PEPPY

A bobcat cross? No way! A kind and gentle youngster whose only tail might have been one of woe but turned out to be a success story instead!
Peppy - named for his boundless energy - sustained an injury to his tail when he was a tiny kitten. This pulled on the nerves in his spine, causing him to have numbness. When nature called, Peppy couldn't hear.
The first step was to amputate the tail that Peppy dragged around lifelessly behind him. Then we tried something different - acupuncture! Little by little, Peppy's condition improved. Next was a change to a high fiber diet and now Peppy is almost purr-fect and ready for a home and lots of love.
A lover boy, Peppy's easy-going, sweet, affectionate, friendly, kind, gentle, active, sensitive, cuddly - all good things make up this extraordinary little cat who only wants someone to love him.

VENUS

A three-year-old beautiful, green-eyed calico, Venus was an outside cat who couldn't stay out of trouble's way. A surgery here, an injury there, now she's inside where she should have been all along. She is so grateful, she purrs like a machine when she's touched, as if you turned on a switch that said "FOR PURR, PUSH HERE".
Venus would be an excellent companion to another cat, or to a human who would give her the time of day - or both. Venus has tested positive for FIV. To learn why she can still be a great companion to another cat click here.
She wants a quiet home, no young children. Only soft-spoken cuddlers need apply!

BONNIE

Bonnie is just under a year. A beautiful, round-faced girl with classic tabby markings and striking green eyes, Bonnie loves to be pet - she almost always falls over in ecstasy! And she loves to play, too.
She gets along beautifully with other cats but would like a home without young children or dogs.
